September 2011 sees the inaugural RACE – a non-stop bicycle race across Europe east from Amsterdam to Slovenia and back west to finish at Tarifa, the southernmost tip of Spain overlooking Africa. As 2011 is the first year of The RACE we are limiting numbers to 250 riders.
The brief
Riders enter solo or in teams of 2, 4, 6 or 8, with their own support teams who will accompany them around Europe. These categories then have classes to race within such as mixed, men’s, women’s and age groups. Riders set off from Amsterdam on Wednesday 7th September and the fastest teams will be arriving in Tarifa by the evening on Tuesday 13th June[sic?!?]. Along the route riders will pass manned Greenrock checkpoints at roughly every 100 miles. Entry for The RACE costs £795 per rider including the deposit of £400. There is no fee for support crew.
The route
Greenrock has designed the quietest and safest route across Europe for The RACE and will provide riders with route maps and directions in hard copy and GPS formats. RACE riders and crews will travel through Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Italy, France and Spain.
