Wood and camo built 1989
Found some old paper photos and scanned them.
I built this bike in 1989 with parts that was left over and the purpose of the bike was to transport me between pubs and partys. And that it did. 20 years ago in Stockholm a bike like this got attention - I think I was almost alone. Somehow it feels nice to, for once, be able to say "I am not a follower".
It is not a fixed gear - the rear hub is a Torpedo two-speed "automatic", laced to a Campagnolo Lambda clincher rim. Front hub is a high flange Campagnolo Record - same rim as in the back. Frame is Crescent Pepita Special, Reynolds 531 and Nervex lugs. Bar and stem 3TTT. Cranks Campagnolo Nuovo Record. Saddle and seatpost - Ideale 90 "Rebour" and Nuovo Record. Pedals = Zeus.
Hmmm...more...Oh - the "paint"? The frame was clad with fake wood and camo tape. The "wood" was of high quality and it even had grain - more than one had to knock on it to investigate.
Still have the bike but it has been retired to indoor trainer use - with a lot of gears.
Hmmmm.....that is me in the photo. Not only is the picture 20 years old - there is a 20 kg difference between then and now also.......
