Velocite Geos live testing opportunity
We are delivering a new ultra light frame for 2011. It will be a super light frame, called Velocite Geos that complements the Helios and Magnus beautifully.
I am making this post to gather interest in being among the first to ride and live test this frame. It would be a pre-production model, our Safe To Ride prototype (STR). All STR prototypes have passed the EN tests.
You would be expected to use the frame and give feedback on its fit, finish and performance, so that any final improvements can be made before the production version is confirmed. We do not expect any problems, but at the same time please keep in mind that this frame has not been ridden yet and that in all likelihood there may be some differences between the prototype and the final version that will get made.
Here are some of the specifications of the frame:
* Monocoque construction using high modulus carbon fiber (HMC) and high compaction technology (HCT)
* Low weight - expected frame weight is 950g in size XL, painted
* 1-1/8 - 1-1/2 asymmetric head tube for increased stiffness
* BSA/ISO bottom bracket
* Compact design with sloping top tube
* Oversized, ovalized downtube
* Overbuilt bottom bracket area
* Carbon drop outs
The new Geos will not be as stiff as the Magnus or Helios, but will therefore offer the most comfortable ride, and of course it will be one of the lightest frames in the world.
The first size that will become available is the "L", the mold for that size has been completed. It has a 57cm top tube and 17.5cm head tube. Other mold sizes will be completed by the end of April.
The frame will come in a simple but attractive finish:
* Carbon UD finish with high gloss top coat
* Aftermarket UD gloss black finish Velocite Bora fork with decals
* FSA headset
