What kind of riding for a returning mountain biker?
I found this text laying around and it's still highly in question! So, I polished it, and here it is!

My friend, 195 cm and 91 kg, is looking into diving into the MTB world. He's either uping his wave sailing quiver with a new used board for this autumn season or, he's getting a mountain bike. But wave sailing is dependent on the conditions and can leave you dry for weeks (highly depending on our weather), while mountain biking you can do kinda whenever you feel like it!

My friend's done a lot of mountain biking when young but before the age of suspension, you know when it was more of a bouncing, hopping around experience, than the flow today. His forte was to get over clear-felled areas (kalhyggen) and I'm not sure what kind of flow that would be... But anyway, he's a super strong climber having done more than one 8a. That means he wont shy back on hard work uphills, well, that might even become his thing. I don't know!

But here's the big question. What kind of rear linkage from poppy and agile to super forgiving should he look at? I'd like to get his riding to relate to my own being all about finding and mastering uphill and downhill lines and hucks. I know the Capra I have is the perfect bike for instilling confidence on downhills, hucks and scetchy lines, no matter if at high or low speed. Having lent it out to friends, it definitely instills confidence! A friend, normally on a Stumpjumper 29, says it just sticks to the ground making it much easier to tackle lines that before seemed dangerous. On it myself, I never worry. The Jeffsy, on the other hand, has more bounce, giving more feedback to the rider on uneven terrain. What I mean is, I think it's worth getting a bike that instills confidence. I would actually say that such a bike, like the Capra, is the perfect bike for beginners being so forgiving.

Talking about getting power to the ground, we have the opposite comparing two bikes as the Capra and Jeffsy. The Jeffsy just gets more power delivered than the Capra.

So I guess it's about where you want to accept shortage, in raw power put to forward propulsion or in confidence-instilling damping.

Oh well, I just mean there are different kind of riding and all are righteous in their own way. We're all in our own bubble of what kind of riding we think is worthwhile. What kind of riding do you think is?
