Gothenburg trails?

Hi all, I'm coming over from Scotland to check out trails in or close to Gothenburg on 9th December for three days riding.

Can anyone give details of contacts, trail maps or any other info for good riding time?

I can bring XC race bike or Freeride/Enduro bike, any recommendations for Gothenburg trails?

Not living in göteborg but there is several regular rides announced here almost daily! :)

There's lots of good trails in Gothenburg, the easiest would probably be join in on a ride ("happy ride") during one of those dates, to get a bit of guiding.

Bike choice is probably up to you, but how pedalable is your freeride/enduro bike? People here tend to ride everything from rigid 29ers to 7" FR bikes. Most people seem to be on 5-6" All mountain/trail bikes though.

I'm probably here that weekend and can join in for a ride. Near to where you are staying there is a great are called Änggården with lots of trails. It's also the area which becomes least muddy when the weather turns sloppy, so hopefully it's rideable..

I'd bring the Meta for sure! There are some fun, technical trails around.

You are gonna live oh so close to Änggårdsberget, wich is one of the nicest city near rides this town has to offer.
I would have chosen the HT. Gothenburg is not that downhilly. More XC if you ask me, but i´m qiute new at this.

Excellent. Could you tell me if I canb take my bike box on the bus to Slottsskogens Vandrarhem or will I need a taxi from the Airport?

If it's luggage you can bring it on the bus if you can carry it yourself. If it's a visible bike you cannot.

I usually ride in Änggården on weekends and have guided quite a few rides, so let's plan this already now!

Saturday 10th december, at 11-ish Happy-easy in Änggården!

I would take the AM-machine as we try to find at least one or two nice AM-sections per ride!
(a.k.a the scarp of death)
XC works fine but takes some of fun out of the decents!

I would gladly arrange a ride but I'm busy that weekend with other things. Otherwise we ride every weekend, mostly from 4 to 6 hours. The trails in the Gothenburg area are fantastic, I would say world class. You can see some pictures of our rides here, the most popular areas are Delsjön, Kåsjön, Jonsered, Partille/Paradiset, Vättlefjäll and Sandsjöbacka. Änggårdsbergen is also nice, but I prefer bigger areas to ride in. Welcome to Gothenburg, happy riding! :-)

Judging from pics the rides are mostly "XC-ish" and you'll se kneepads and helmets but not a lot of full body armour. I'll leave the participant number estimation to someone else... :)

Tip: Should you need any parts, servicing etc, http://cykelcity.se/ and http://bikeplace.se/?sida=hem are at Linnégatan, five and ten minutes walk respectively from where you're staying.

There is also a CX race in Slottskogen on Sunday the 11th in case you're not out riding somewhere

You will not need body armour, it's not near that kind of terrain! but kneepads are nice to keep the knees warm!

Helmet is mandatory!

No, but you will probably ned a Bulletproof west and be holding. Since this area is Gothenburgs ekvivalent to North Ayrshire...

If you want a honest comparison between trails in UK and Göteborg, you should check with lillefot's husband, Andy. He has just moved to Sweden and have done some AM-biking in England.
Send lillefot a PM and believe she will forward it to Andy.

Well at least the trail conditions should be about the same in Sweden and the UK. WET!!!

Should you feel too confined in Ängårdsbergen there are plenty of opportunities from there, see below. I went for the Sandjöbacka and Torrekullaleden today and finished with some fun in Ängårdsbergen. A good day out. (pic below is not from today)

The trails can get soaking wet in a day, if it rains. Right now the trails are pretty wet or atleast muddy. You better follow the forecast for Gothenburg: http://www.yr.no/
