Std Hey! Mein Freund und ich sind auf einer Radreise von Deutschland durch Schweden. Heute habe ich zwei gebrochene Fahrradspeichen und kann kaum weiterfahren. Gibt es jemanden, der uns helfen kann?
Wir sitzen direkt vor dem "Coop" und wissen nicht wie es weitergehen soll...

Sorry, I'm located about 170 km from your position. If you try to Google "cykelreparatör Vingåker" you get a hit for someone with a very small business. Maybe he can help you on a sunday.

Another possibilty could be to contact "Vingåkers CK". It's the local bicycle club. Maybe someone can help you with club tools or own tools.

The cycling club "CK Ceres" is about 15km away. Call any sports shop in Katrineholm, they would be able to direct you to members.. Yours borano20

I called the chairman of Ceres, he answered but forwarded me to Vingåkers CK. The chairman knew nobody himself who could assist. Call again while you´re waiting, and don´t forget to ask people around the COOP. Vingåker is a veeeery small village.. Yours borano20

Thank you for the effort. We met a British man in front of COOP who told us about HappyRide. If we can't get it fixed today, we will go to Katrineholm by bus tomorrow.

Do you have one broken and one ready bike? Or do you have a tandem bike? If you have one ready bike and feel secure that you only need one Tool. Maybe one of you can go to Katrineholm by bike? I will take a look for closer alternatives while waiting.

I contacted the first store but it seems like it doesn't exist anymore. The other store is empty. We went there 1 hour ago.

Activity on FB quite low. MTB group wins over road cycling group. I suppose they prefer tools before white socks. But no one close to your location has answered yet.

Greetings from the British man you met! That's one of the only tools I don't carry with me I hope you're back on the road soon tomorrow! Enjoy Sweden, it's a wonderful wonderful country for cycling, and big respect on your ride.

no help for you because i am five hours away now, but always keep a cassette removal tool with me. it had saved my ride a couple of times, last time just two weeks ago when a tree branch bent the derailleur holder (schaltauge) and the whole system got stuck into the wheel inside the cassette, more partucularly the chain. just totally stuck.

either fix the problem there and then, or lift the bike for a couple of hours to reach civilisation.

at biltema you can also get their very smallest water pump pliers, to maneuver the cassette tool. its a dandy. to lock the cassette during removal use a wooden stick ot a screwdriver to lock it between the spokes:)

I've heard om FB that some local hero (Anders Reinholdsson) made his best effort to help you out. The effort was not enough due to difficult conditions with high torque required. It seems like you have to go to Katrineholm. May I suggest you bring the complete wheel with you. This will give you most possible options for a good solution.

Count the number of links in chain. If a new cassette is required, you should also replace the chain. Get it shortened in shop and include a good tool free lock link.

The bike mechanic in Vingåker shut down years ago unfortunately. Those website are out of date. Biltema or the bike mechanics in Katrineholm are your closest bet.

If I wasn't out myself on two week tour I would've have helped you. I live in Vingåker and have a complete setup of bicycle tools in my garage.

I hope it works out for you, I know the pain of mechanical problems when out touring.

the unior is a nice and elegant idea, but help from it is to say the least limited, rather nada, if your chain is stuck inside the cassette.

which is for me so far the only ever reason for taking the cassette off when underways.

the cassette tool is not much heavier than the unior, and to be trusted in all possible scenarios. the pliers should be with you regardless:)

and it turns out you did not have a "cassette", but rather a so called "freewheel cassette" .

an older and different system altogether, uncommon these days, and at least not fitted to quality bicycles after say 1990, also pretty much not manageable with tools in a weight class you might wish to carry with you on a tour.

but if you bring the cassette removal tool, taking the cassette off and changing corresponding spokes is really a breeze.

for example inside the seat post on a dropbar bike, unlikely to have a dropper post.
