there are other obvious places to keep them:)

for example inside the seat post on a dropbar bike, unlikely to have a dropper post.

Taped to seat stays was the traditional way

That isn't possible, as the seat post has been shortened to accomodate for the irremovable spare seat post. ?

I live and work in Stockholm, but have done a fair bit of touring around Sweden over the summer (best vacation I have EVER had)
