Onsdagscykling i Uppsala

Har varit borterst ett tag o åkt skidor. Är det någon som varit i Lunsen eller Nåsten nyligen?

Jag åkte lite runt ytterkanten av Nåsten härom dan men det var bara is, is och is. Kanske bättre längre in, det kollade jag aldrig. Lunsen har jag inte besökt sen http://happymtb.org/forum/read.php/1/346277/352166#msg-352166 :)

Fy, om man varken kan hoja eller åka skidor, men tydligen är det snö på gång http://svt.se/svt/jsp/Crosslink.jsp...ntId=10&countryId=1001&locationId=10010203080 hoppas det kommer så mkt att man kan åka skidor. Den nersmälta snön borde ju vara ett bra underlag.

Well well, things have been rather quiet here of late! Are you using as new thread or has everyone given up biking for the Winter? I must say, our bikes have been gathering dust in the cellar these past few weeks.

However, I couldn't take any more spinning sessions down the gym and with such a lovely day we went out today. And what a day!! We took the Gula Stigen track, which was just how you described it Per, lovely and flowing with less roots than usual and no problems with ice at all! Just cold feet.

We then got to the lake just in time to see the sun setting, as the skaters returned in their droves. Wow. It's days like today that I just love this country.

Anyhow, while I'm feeling inspired, I thought I'd commit myselt to a ride on Wednesday night, if anyone wants to join me. I'm sure with the snow, the visibility will be much better than the last few night rides I did. So, is anyone going to join me?

So have ours. Have not biked at all this year, yet.

Today, and yeasterday, we were out to Månkarbo crosscountry skiing. Some evenings we go out to Storvreta and ski, there is circuit with lights.

I've been biking at least once a day pretty much the entire winter, but not so much in the woods as I'd hoped for. It has been too much snow in Lunsen ( http://happymtb.org/forum/read.php/1/346277/352166#msg-352166 ) but yesterday it was actually quite nice. Gula stigen has been really nice lately, I hope it stays that way for a while. I'd like to bike on wednesday but it's going to be a busy week so I'm not sure I can.

According to the weather forcast there is going to be ten to twenty centimetres of fresh snow falling, will snow every day this week, so I think we‘ll bet on xc-skiing. It is fun for a change.

Well if there's 20 cm of fresh snow, I suppose I wont be biking, although I'm still just as enthusiastic. If there's not much snow and you fancy it andreaso, let me know,

Otherwise, yes, it'll be the skis. I've not tried that in the dark yet!!

I tried to bike this evening and it sucked big time, it was near impossible and now I can't remember why I even tried. Doesn't look good for a wednesday ride...

Yes, when there is this much snow one is really dependent on people walking the trail turning it into hardpack. If it is hardpack it is great fun, if not it just sucks, at the moment I think the only trail that might be hardpack is Gula stigen — largely due to that people take out their dogs — but even Gula stigen may need a couple of days feet before it gets good.

I was biking gula stigen at saturdray and it was quite fun and fast. It was though a bit slippery because of the weather last week that made it very icy under the thin snow layer which resultet in some falls (vurpor :) ). I don´t have tires with spikes (dubbdäck), it would probably have given som better traction (fäste) etc. But now it is probably to much snow as mentioned above to try biking around those places.

I was out yesturday evening (went out about 21) and I think it was fantastic! Lots of powder to ride thru! Unfortuanally my battery gave up after only 50 min so i had to head back home, but i hope to get out today as well :)

Lunsen idag, skidade från Plantskolan via Bollmossen till Fläktanstugan. Det enda som verkade någorlunda cykelbart var leden från Flottsund till Lunsentorpet.

Jag åkte en bit på Linnéstigen och närliggande stigar igår morse, det var ok underlag men snön kändes som nålar i ögonen (har inga skyddsbrillor). På eftermiddan var det för mycket snö på marken och idag var det för mycket snö som dessutom var väldigt tung och slaskig. Lite vår vore trevligt...

Vi hade tänkt åka till Kungsberget men väglaget var sådant att vi istället valde att Lunsa men på skidor. Åkte från Plantskolan till Surstagärdena och sedan över Långkärret till Lunsentorpet och vidare ut till Plantskolan. En fin dag.

Men det fanns knappt någon stig. Vi såg många av spängerna och på de flesta låg två decimeter packad snö. Den enda stigen vi såg var från Flottsund till Lunsentorpet och och på den var snön mjuk o blöt o dessutom ganska tjock. Det såg inte ut som om det skulle ha varit kul att hoja. Fryser det på, så att det blir hårt, skulle det dock kunna funka.

Ingen som tänker åka cykel på Onsdag (eller annan dag)?
En del stigar är riktigt roliga nu så det gäller att passa på innan det blir soppa av allting.

Kom just hem från det som i MTB runt Uppsala kallas Skidleden i Nåsten, åkte ut till Hammarskog o tillbaka, suveränt, hårda snabba spår, strålande solsken. Såg en del stig. Nu har det varit lite varmt men inte så varmt att det blivit is utan bara så pass varmt att snön sjunkit lite och där det gått fötter är det helt cykelbar stig. Hård och snabb. Skulle tro att Gula o Röda stigen, där det går mkt folk med hundar o det joggas en del, kan vara hur fina som helst.

Jag o Elisabeth passar imorgon, vi vill nog passa på att åka skidor så länge det går. Det är säkert ett decennium sedan vi hade en så här fin vinter. Men kanske någon annan är på hugget?

Körde gula och röda stigen i Vårdsätraskogen idag, Stenhårda halvmeterbreda singletracks, blå himmel och solsken. Dubbdäcken bet grymt bra. Hur härligt som helst!! Kan rekommendera om ni ska ut imorgon!

Jag åkte i Nåsten idag, det var perfekta förhållanden där också.
Ser ut som det kommer snö/regn på måndag så man får passa på att åka imorrn.

Det var fin skidåkning också. Åkte från Björns hög ut till Hammarskog, och sedan på vägen hem tog jag skidleden över "namnlösa kärret" och följde Hågadalen tillbaka till Björns hög. Tydligen ska det bli — 15 i morgon bitti och sedan gå upp till + 4 på eftermiddagen.

Jag cyklar görna redan nu, och även andra dagar än just den heliga onsdagsturen...!

Om någon är sugen på att köra är det bara att kasta ut ett turförslag. Föresten har mina dubbdäck gått ur tiden, går det bra att köra med vanliga däck nu när det mest ser ut som slask på marken? Någon som har förslag på bra vanliga däck för detta underlag?

Om man ska åka i skogen nu tror jag det är lika illa oavsett vilka däck man har.
Jag tog av dubbdäcken idag eftersom jag inte tänkt åka så mycket i skogen förrän snön är borta.
På tisdag ser det ut som det ska snöa igen :(

Such a beautiful day today. We managed to get out on the bikes and went along the railway track in Nasten. We took a look at the usual Wednesday track through the woods, which started off great, but still had quite deep snow and big wet areas. Emma wasn't so keen, but I'd love to gove it a go. ANyone fancy it on Wednesday?

In a couple of weeks time I think it'll be fine, although a bit wet still I'm sure.

Do you think it will be any fun? We were up to Plantskolan in Lunsen today, and the trails appeared to be covered with hardpacked slushy soft snow and a lot of water was running everywhere.

Yes, but we are not quite certain at the moment, lets keep in touch, it is going really fast now so hopefully it is just a matter of days before it is bikeable.

This winter has really been exceptional. We had our first ride for the year today. Took the road bikes for a spin out on the small roads NW of town: Börje, Fibo, Vänge, etc. Normally, we bike for months in the woods before we take out the road bikes.

It was nice to get som bike time finally, though there is still a lot of gravel on the bike pathes.

The weather sure was great today, althougt a bit windy. I'm surprised it was at all bikeable anywhere in the woods, I've been checking out the edges of Lunsen/Nåsten this weekend and it didn't look good at all. Maybe it really isn't bikeable, and you're just desperate? :)
Well, I am too, so I may join you on Wednesday.

Maybe I was just being optimistic and it could be rubbish, I don't know. I'm sure it'll be wet but I am desparate and will give it a go anyhow. I picked up some Gortex socks in England, which will come in handy.

That road bike of Elzabeth's looks lovely Per! Well, let's see how it goes, if this temperature keeps up, then I'm sure things will be a lot better. As you say, let's keep in touch.

Andreas, suprised we didn't see you, I've heard you've been out just about every day this Winter!

Maybe Per or someone else has some ideas on places that are a bit more exposed to the sun than Nästen, or somewhere that might be a bit drier?

I'm still keen to try the Nästen track, but guess that it could be a pain.

We did, just Andreas and myself, Clas has a bit of a cold. It was great, apart from my impaling my crown jewels on the stem and ending up in a stream. A bit wet in places but 98% rideable. The worst part was the red track connecting the good bits. Anyhow, here's Andreas doing his stuff...

It was really good fun Per. Hopefully we will see you soon anyhow.

We went along the train track and then cut into the forest at the usual trail, took this through to the red track, then went right, then left up the main track and doubled backed right continuing on the other main track. We then cut left across the clearing and back into the woods, through to Färbodarna. The usual. It was such fun, we then turned around and did the whole thing in reverse.

It was great being back out again, although I had a stupid accident, which has left me hobbling around a bit today.

Ralf och jag stack till lunsen vid 9-tiden i morse. En hel del is/snö i början.

Här i slutet av den långa svaga backen innan man når hällarna ...

En del vatten kring spänger var det ju.

Nya spänger är på gång hela vägen till Lunsentorpet.

Lite snö kvar.

Här är det svårt, somliga brukar testa spången till vänster men räcket sitter i vägen.

Vad mer kan man begära?
