There has been a lot of talk about SS bikes on here recently... and many who ask... what is singlespeeding...

Easy answer: FUN

It is about getting back to riding bikes, and looking at the trees... not about having the best kit and lightest parts...

One tip for anyone wanting a fun project...

Girls Dig Singlespeed bikes...

Lots of my friends-that-happen-to-be-girls who ahve never ridden MTB before... really prefer to ride my Singlespeed bikes.. as they don't have to worry about all the gears and the noises they make when it goes wrong....

It is a good way to get your other half to come riding with you... but be careful up the hills... girls often have strong legs and lighter bodies than us guys, so they are awesome at riding uphill in heavy inappropriate gears....

So build a SS mtb... and ask a girl/friend/wife (doesn't have to be your own) to come riding with you...

Trust me on this one....

Chicks don't like gears! ;-)

Finally...

In sweden I prefer to call it snigelspeeding.

SS is a registred name for AB Stockholms Spårvägar (Stockholm Tramway ltd.), founded 1916. Run the Djurgårdslinjen.

The Girly thing is like this.....

The girls I have introduced to snigelspeed mountainbiking enjoy riding... but are not really into racing... this is why there are lots of girls that attend the worlds... because it is not a race It Is An Event.... whereas here in sweden, everyone takes it pretty seriously....

I think for next years SSSM there it should be compulsory that all bikes have a Bell fitted on them...

Yeah right!! ha ha... SS riders are just as much gear-heads as the rest of us, if not worse :D

See... I told you... Babes Dig Snigelspeeds...

Ok... so you weren't racing.... but at least half of them were... pretty much everyone had some form of lycra on.. even me.. and I rode the entire race, plus maybe some extra bits when I followed you and you missed the track!

But....

It doesn't matter... being there was the most important...

I am hoping to make another trip to Stockholm before winter gets here to ride the Hellas area... and do some more skids outside the kings pad! See if I can impress Madde.... ;-)
