The difficulty usually comes from shallower Drop Channel: To make tubeless inflation safer and more reliable, Stan's deliberately made the drop channel shallower than what you'd find on standard rims . A deeper channel gives you more slack to push the tire bead into the center, making it easier to slip the last bit over the rim. Because Stan's channel is shallow, you have much less wiggle room, which requires more force and technique. Low Sidewalls (no Bead Hook): Rims also have lower sidewalls and eliminate the traditional bead hook . While this improves tire shape and reduces weight, it means the bead has to seat more firmly into the socket. New tires with stiff beads can feel very tight when trying to push them into the correct position.
Tolerance Stacking: The tight fit is also a combination of the rim's exact manufacturing tolerance and the specific tire you are using. Some tire and rim combinations are notoriously difficult, while others slip on more easily .
