Hi Niklas,
Thank you very much for your interest in our products.
Ripmo has been one of our test bikes while developing the V3, so absolutely no problem for it.
We had also a EWS rider testing it on Ripmo, that i cannot mention for sponsoring reasons but reported us pretty well about it.
I copy here a email i received some hours ago from a Ripmo user :
Hi Guys,
The shock works incredibly well. It makes keeping feet planted on flats so effortless even in decent chunk. You should stress it more in your communications. It’s really such a great improvement over —.
I have no clue why Ibis is not offering Storia as an option on Ripmo. — is just terrible after riding Storia.
However there’s one issue. Storia offers way more grip than my Ribbon coil. Hence the front will slide before rear. It’s something I can get used to, but still something to be aware of.
I think that damper cartridge upgrade and spring conversion kit is a must from you guys. The shock probably outperforms most of the forks out there and therefore you need to address the front too.
Have an awesome season!
What i can say is that with Storia V3 you can have sensitivity of coil, good mid stroke support with proper compression valving, and great bottom out protection with HBC.
Just a quick question, where are you writing from ?
For anything please feel free to ask me.
Thank you very much and have a great day.
Vittorio
Hi Niklas,
Yes of course you're welcome to publish answer on swedish forum, no worries about it ;)
On Ibis Cycles (like also on Pivot), the way the shock is mounted is really stressful on base of shock shaft, and they suggest air since usually air shocks are more progressive (and this compensate linear suspension layout), and run bigger shafts than coil.
Coil shocks are usually very linear, so Ibis like Pivot does not recommend to run it on their models, since there's high bottom out risk, and harsh bottoming out can lead to shock failure.
For this reason, V3 Storia features (as standard) a reinforced shaft that allows to use it also on high stressful linkages.
This is a quick link on how HBC works, this is a solution we imported from WRC cars :
If you have further questions just simply ask me ;)
Thanks a lot.
