Mitt brev till Sheldon Brown:
Sheldon,
I am an importer/distributor in Stockholm, Sweden and one of my customers is having a problem that I haven't seen addressed. She is having trouble making a certain saddle work with a Thomson seatpost that I provided. It turns out that the clamping channels on the Ritchey post that she had been using previously are spaced approx. 4 mm more widely than those on the Thomson. I have not previously experienced similarly large fitting discrepencies when swapping saddles from Brooks, WTB, Selle Italia, Terry, Serfas and Avocet between posts from Thomson, Kalloy, Syncros, Maxm and Moots, so my first inclination is to assume that the Ritchey post differs from the norm.
That having been said, I can't find any independent description or verification of what the norm is. Can you shed any light on this?
Thanks,
Dane
