dur368 vs 369?? high power vs relentless power...
Rezension aus Deutschland vom 18. Februar 2023
own both, and each gets 4 stars from me. contrary to their somewhat similar appearance, these two makita 2022 offerings are actually quite different from one another, motor front or rear being the most obvious. .
the 368 weighs 4.75 kg including batteries, spool and tread; the 369 considerably heavier at 7.1 kg. measured irl. it is definitely a more powerful machine, actually a little too powerful for its two 5.0 Ah batteries, which drain at a fast rate.
both models have dynamic torque control and thus keep their rev also under load. a good and in my view essential start. both have 3 speed settings, the 369 in addition offers a gradient speed lever.
the 368 feels light in your hands and is more than adequate for around the house, where it has an easy job with edges or heavy grass under hedges. no comparison to a household single line trimmer such as the dur181, not even close. the dur368 is here a much more competent alternative. it is still surprisingly lean on the batteries, and for continuous use, 4 pcs 5.0 Ah batteries are sufficient, together with one twin charger. it also copes willfully with heavier stuff once you power up. all in all a powerful experience, really not much more to wish for.
but here the 369 nevertheless presents itself in an even higher league. the 369 shreds heavy grass effortlessly even 'idling' at lowest speed, and with such use can be felt more discreet and quiet. full trottle on highest speed is hardly ever in use. and with a wider footprint of 43 cm it covers more ground.
there are no free lunches however, and one factor to consider is the noticeably higher weight; yet still well balanced enough to use it without harness if you prefer. i skipped the model with handlebars also with the 369, and have not missed them.
and then; battery surge.
for continuous operation with the 369 you really need at least 6 pcs of 5.0 Ah batteries, together with 4 charging slots. batteries get hot and may require cooling before charging. and for a 2-3 hour pass away from charging facilities, rather bring 8 than 6 pcs of 5.0 batteries. (or buy one or two of the backpack power supplies.) for example when clearing trails away in the woods. in spite of this; that is where i prefer the bigger machine. what a magnificent beast.
so which one then? well if you own an abundance of batteries, do not mind the extra weight, and crave for effortless power as well as a gradient speed lever; go for the relentless dur369. but for most ordinary home owners i would expect the dur368 to be a more reasonable still really powerful choice. it is also light enough so that harness, and not least handlebars should be out of the question entirely.
ps. dolmar-maskinen på bilden är en 369a med modifierat handtag. dolmar tillverkar makitas motorsågar, och även en del andra trädgårdsredskap. makitas batterier passade tills häromåret, men gör det inte längre.
