Jag ställde en fråga till Continental huruvida problemet är generellt eller specifikt för Sladda. Fick svaret att det beror lite på och att 8 mm-remmen inte är tillräckligt stark. 10 mm-remmen borde användas i stället.
Här är svaret i sin helhet:

Dear Mr. Franzon,
thank you for your eMail.
The risk of a belt breaking is different from bicycle manufacturer (OEM) to
bicycle manufacturer as well as from model to model owing to the varying
degrees of severity of the possible causes. These include:
a) Failure to comply with frame and assembly tolerances;
b) handling errors and
c) the 8mm belts and belt pulleys do not have the power reserves that we
regard as necessary under the monitored conditions.
As a responsible and conscientious manufacturer, we have decided for
safety reasons to cease production of the Continental Belt Drive (CBD) in
the 8mm variant.
Following individual technical examinations of the models, we are taking
further measures together with the OEM. After establishing the facts in
their entirety, the OEM has the task of holding the necessary internal
deliberations, drawing conclusions and, if necessary, deciding on and
taking specific measures for all systems that are already on the market.
IKEA acted very quickly in this case with a recall. Canyon for instance has
decided to change all bikes to a different drive system. Please refer to
your bicycle's manufacturer for their specific plans to act in this matter.
Thank you for your understanding!
Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards,
Niels Alexander Kück
